Clinical clerkships vary in length, from four weeks for electives, to three months for the core clerkships of surgery and internal medicine. Additional core clerkships that are six weeks in length include family medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, and psychiatry. Clinical clerkships are conducted in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, depending on the nature of the clerkship and the availability of the attending physician.
